Striking elegant results are important when coating furniture. The Sopur Harmony Dye Stain range can be used to produce finishes that are distinguishable in quality, strength and chemical resistance as rival stains. Sopur is at the forefront of wood stain technology and their pigmented stains are perfect for interior joinery underneath clear Acrylic or Polyurethane Topcoats.
Harmony Pigmented Stains have been designed for the pastel decoration of wooden projects. They contain organic solvents, dyes and pigments for excellent flow, uniform colour, speed of drying and resistance to fading in light. They are ideal for application on Oak, Ash and Pine species. To achieve semi-opaque effects the stain is best applied by spraying and wiping, or to achieve a more solid opaque look it is best applied by spraying and leaving.

PREPARATION
Before staining the wooden surface must be clean (free from dust and resin/glue spots) and treated with sandpaper: grit 150 - 220 (depending on the kind of wood).
Before using the Stain, its container should be thoroughly mixed. The mixing should be continued until the possible residue at the bottom of the container is gone. For pastel colours (BPA indexes, 20-01, SOP-20-07, SOP-BN-022, SOP-BN-125/09) we strongly recommend using mechanical agitation because the colourants can be deposited on the bottom of the package.
APPLICATION
The application of Harmony Pigmented Stains creates an Opaque look whilst exposing the natural grain structure of the timber. They can be applied by wiping on and off along the grain using a rag, spraying and leaving or brushing. If spraying we recommend using a spray gun (pressure/suction/gravity) with 1.4 mm to 1.8 mm tip. Spray application is ideal because of its penetration rate and the quick drying nature of stains. If brushing we recommend a good quality synthetic brush for an ultra-smooth finish. If rag applying always use a white soft cotton cloth as opposed to coloured to ensure dyes from the fabric do not contaminate the staining.
AFTER CARE
The stained wood can be finished by spray with any kind of varnish or oil, purposed for wooden surfaces. Application should always be done in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. In order to prolong the durability of colour we recommend using the varnish with high resistance to UV.
